My husband, the COMIC…

My husband has resisted the world of computers!
(resisted - resented- relentlessly!! HIS 3 Rs))

However has, in spite of all, picked up some computer speak…so he ain’t fooling me a bit with this show of total ‘unawareness’ of the term - ‘BLOG!’

In my excitement over the fun I’m having with MY OWN BLOG I recently asked him,

“Charles, if you had a BLOG, what would you put on it?”

Without a moments hesitation he came back with …

“Watkin’s salve!” “But I don’t need any - I’m Healthy!”

…insinuating he didn’t understand my question… didn’t understand what I meant by BLOG…pretending he thought I meant some skin blemish or some such thing!!

Luckily, I have a good sense of humor or I might read more into this!

Poem: Putting Away Halloween (Once again!)

Again the time is near to put away my Halloween guys and gals-
witches and monsters-Pumpkins and cats...
and all the rest! This is a silly little poem I wrote
and posted here in 2006

Putting Away Halloween - 2006

I’ll put you all away,
my witches and my monsters, dear,
hidden there in tissue, inside boxes;
also taped!

Jack-O-Lanterns‘ smiles and frowns –
will vanish for another year…
tied up tight in Wal-Mart bags I saved...
no way will you escape!

One more time you’ve done me proud...
Wolf Man, Frank and all the rest.
I’ve learned to shiver less,
the longer that I’ve known you.

I’ve decided that those scary sounds,
and the way you tend to dress
is all for show! Please tell me...
is this really true?

Next time we meet I know,
from having done this through the years,

They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their findings.

Hair!

Where have all the long curls gone??
Long time passing...

:) That old Peter, Paul and Mary song just popped in my head as I was making these pics of my new hair cut! (Well, with a twist, naturally!)

OK...being silly again but that's better than depressed which I often am!
RIGHT?

Today I took the plunge and went and got my long locks trimmed. It has been a long time since I cut my hair at all! I'm not your usual modern day lady who frequents hairdressers. It's my least favorite thing to do!!

Really weird - I know!

Actually, I like my hair long, except in the summer when I have to use hair clips a lot to keep cool! That makes me have headaches!....so...finally I break through my resistance and just go for it!
I don't like big changes in any part of my life. If something is comfortable I usually want to stick with it...That goes for almost everything in all parts of my life!

LOL- The only way getting old has been tolerable for me is that it has happened so gradually...
Imagine if it had happened suddenly!!! haha- I'd be in a tizzy! Lucky there's a good master plan in place, eh?

....And the part about trading my petite figure of my youth for this old bag I'm in now (ooops ...I meant to say this more mature shape) hasn't really been that bad either- because it happened gradually, so as to give me time to get settled in!

I DO wish I could have kept my original medium brown hair, though. As I got older and the gray was taking over I began lightening my hair. The gray blends in better with the blonde. and I don't have to color it nearly as often as I would need to if I was trying to keep it my original color! (Does that make sense to anyone?)

...But-I DO find that being blonde is fun! It's been a few years now and I'm quite in tune with it by now!

LOL- and let me tell you...having Blonde Moments combined with Senior Moments is a force to be reckoned with! lol!

About frogs...

I saw a dead Bull Frog in my pond! I wonder how/why he died? :( Yesterday he was at the bottom of the pond, just stretched out on his back with his long legs and arms extended...today he has floated to the top.

(I will spare you a pic of that one!!)

I asked C. to remove it yesterday but he hasn't yet complied! Guess I'll have to fish the little dead body out myself!

Oh, well~ I can do that!

The world through the eyes of Juniper Rose...

...and in the fish pond I got a good shot of a couple
of frogs at play!

Well, I THOUGHT at first they were playing a game of 'Leap Frog'
but after he didn't LEAP I realized I had stumbled into a more
intimate encounter!

Oh well...it's not every day you have this opportunity...

One more weird thing I found in my yard the other day...

Note the FROG sprinkler with the hose attached! I was totally taken aback
when I started to move this Fake frog to my flower beds for watering
and saw this -very still- small frog just sitting there near the Frog sprinkler...
Turns out this little frog was DEAD... looked mummified!
I shot the scene just as I found it! :)

Oh,my! Do you think he may have mistaken that fake frog for one of his pond girls?
Could that be the reason he croaked?
:(

As for the 'Gnome Lady',I have not seen her  at all this summer. I guess she has given up on my garden - deciding that it's a lost cause ~ and that's a sad but true assessment!

Nick Names

I was just thinking of all the names I've been called over the years...

WAIT!! I don't mean THOSE kind of names- just the fun - nicks that most of us pick up along this long road of life.

'JunieRose' is my most recent one. I used it posting to blogs here, awhile before I decided to open my own blog site! 'June', of course, is my real name (my middle name) and I added ROSE because I LOVE roses!

As a child my MOM called me 'JuneBug', not surprisingly! My little sister called me 'SISTY' for many years!

My Daddy had a hard time giving up the name they first used for me...'Laquita'...a name my Mom, with her romantic nature, found in a book she read! It was a name I HATED as a child. (because nobody else was named that...and besides- no one even knew how to pronounce it properly!) When I started school I insisted on being 'June!'

'Juniper'was given to me by an online friend over 3 years ago...(June was taken a little further- if you can follow the logic! :) ) I rather liked the sound so started using it as my SCREEN name! It has served me well! This same friend is BIG on nicks and now, mostly calls me Gator! (because I live in Florida) I have been
'Queen Juniper' or 'QJ' to some friends on a message board I visit - also 'JB' by one friend (short for June Bug) and - 'Kiddo' lol- Maybe this a putdown because of my ADVANCED YEARS! :)

Early in my marriage My husband called me many different names- 'LJ'(my initials)
'Mama Goose' (I hope not because he saw me as a SILLY goose- but just the MAMA of the house)... & 'MOSE GOOSE' - who knows why!!...and often just 'MAMA!'

In our family circle - grown kids - grandkids - sons-in-law even friends of our kids etc- and often by extended members of both sides of our family- I am 'Ginga' and my husband is 'Gabbo!'
These names were given to my husband and me by our first grandson! We wanted to be Granddaddy and Granny but our Dan decided for himself what he wanted to call us!
SO- of course, that is who we became. (for these past 20+ years)

I was 'Ginga,' online, too, for awhile....but have been 'Juniper' for the past 3 years! And now,'Junie Rose!' I feel comfortable with those names!

The family (grands ) these days, mostly call me 'Ging' and my husband'Gab!'

SO- if I sometimes seem confused in my ramblings here...

could it be that I am still searching for The Real Me?

Poem: The Spider And Me

A fact most of my lady friends find weird about me is this...

(lol-well, maybe among many other things)

...I am not afraid of spiders as a rule. I do not run screaming from them if I encounter them and even will try to remove them to the great outdoors if I find one in my house! I find spiders quite interesting to watch- outside. I am especially intrigued by their webs!

(...but not in my face, please!)

The Spider and Me

Today I did some gardening.
I snipped and groomed a bit.
Until I walked into her web…
and had to pause and sit!

Oh! Woe is me and double woe...
that yucky - sticky mess!
Untangling strands of spider silk…
not fun, as you might guess!

I didn’t let it do me in!
I’m stubborn - don’t you see?
And, by heck, I would not let
her get the best of me!

So with my garden hose in hand
I washed her web away.
And sent her scuttling up the tree,
where I truly hope she’ll stay!

If I encounter her again,
I hope, not in my face!
I hope she builds much higher up -
for her, a safer place!

Once to be enclosed in silk
is plenty… hope she knows!
Next time - I just might arm myself
with more than garden hose!

(Starts in Boone, NC)

The Water Wheel

We returned to the motel and loaded our car. Our plan was to continue on to Banner Elk, which was less than 20 miles south of Boone. Our intention was to see as much of NC as possible and we had never actually been to the town of Banner Elk! We wanted to see what this little ski town was like!

So off we go, after taking another quick run through Boone! We saw a funny sight on the way out…a couple of joggers! (Young guys - students, I would guess) Their top parts were bundled up nicely but their legs were exposed to the weather! Charlie remarked that one of the guys legs were purple- tinted from the cold! … At that time, I couldn’t imagine anyone being that cold!

I was decked out in my little red hat and matching mittens…feeling cozy and fine; my brand new Nikes keeping my feet toasty-warm!

A little ways out from the main part of Boone we see something we just couldn’t pass by! Well, we passed it by but made a hasty U-turn to get an up close and personal look!
It was this!

On a previous trip we had stayed at this very motel and remembered seeing this ‘Water Wheel’ from that time. With the freezing cold weather and snow lightly falling, it was quite a sight and we knew we Must get some pictures of this!

The area around this wheel was well maintained with a board walkway that led to a mulched pathway around behind the wheel-for close-up views from all sides!
The water troth with running water feeding into the wheel had icicles up to 3 feet long, hanging down! I lightly touched one, and to my surprise, it came loose in my hand!

We walked down the path around behind the wheel! My, what a sight, with the ice clinging to every part of it-and snow still, gently, falling!

…This next part I have been reluctant to tell-but I will try to tell it in a most humorous way…lest you feel sorry for me- or (God Forbid) think me (or even Charlie) stupid! ;)

Please keep in mind that this was all new stuff for us…all this ice and snow…wooly caps…mittens…freezing ponds…

OK…also –I am used to taking any suggestion my husband gives me - (or order???) especially in fun situations like this!

…After taking a couple pictures on the walkway he said, ”Stand on that corner and let me get you with the wheel directly behind you!”

I did! When my second foot touched the rock ledge... YES! - I was in the water!
(Neither of us had noticed that the ledge was iced over!)

COLD!

I hit the water and went under! I’m sure I tried to grab onto the wooden part that held the wheel up…I know this from the bruises on my right arm and underarm…but I don’t know how I managed to bruise the left hip!
On reflection, I think it was a small miracle that I didn't hit the back of my head!

All I knew at the time is that I was DANG cold…and I was thinking,
“Oh my! Let me out of here before someone sees me!”

Although I went in over my head, the depth of the water was little more than waist high on me. Attempts by Charles to pull me out, failed! ...but I was able to get through the frame that held the wheel and walk up the incline and climb out!

…lol- and I bet you’re wondering if Charlie captured all this action with the camera…

At the time he was so scared- all he could do was to rush over to see if I was ok and try to help me get out!

He DID mention later that he should have got the picture of me falling…blogging material - don’t you know!! I told him I probably wouldn’t have taken too kindly to that!!

Luckily, we still had time to go back to our motel so I could get a hot shower and change clothes! (I felt sure the housekeepers there would not have cleaned the room yet -if ever- and I was right!)
I laughed all the way back at the utter absurdity of this icy fall into that pond!

I quickly shed the icy, wet clothes and got into the hottest water I could stand- just rinsing my hair! (Not bothering with shampoo or a creme rinse…a mistake!)
A hot shower never felt so good!

We went back by the Water Wheel...Charles had hopes of getting to my hat (with one of the long plow handles he had bought) but he was not able to get it! Here you see the poor frozen little thing- in it's watery grave!

…So we continued onward…

~~I had fun talking with the girls. I had some pics from our trip to NC in October '06. They both read my blog and of course knew of my Icy Dip into the water wheel pond!
I told them another episode of the trip which they found funny!

... LOL-OK- Evie sorta-kinda DARED me to post that story here!

...my continued NC travels with Charlie...

...K- as I said before-after my fall into the pond I didn't take time to properly shampoo and creme rinse my hair (I was in such a hurry to get the heck out of Boone!) I realized my mistake as my hair dried . I found it completely unmanageable-flying every which way!

But by the end of our riding that day I was too tired to bother with my hair again- so said,"Forget it!"

The next day brought us to Sylva, NC...a very pretty place we had visited before. We looked around some- found a nice place for dinner-made some pictures.

We got back to the motel late...but I HAD to do my hair! I had brought along my foam curlers so started out with the job I knew had to be done!

The type hair I have, (much too long ) I have to curl it or I can't do a thing with it! If I just blow it dry it's just a fly-away mess!...Anyway- it was late and I knew it would take a long time to dry it, put up with the curlers...

Though, not the most comfortable thing to do I thought I could sleep with the foam curlers in place-and by morning it would be ready to take down! (and I would once again look beautiful! (hahaha)....That is- if I only had a sleep cap to put over the curlers to keep them in place! I didn't have one, of course!

This is what I decided to do! (Luckily for me, I pack a lot of extra stuff for trips!)

Well- what would YOU have done!!

OK- I'm thinking of my over-due annual check-up(s) which I can't put off much longer... (you know-all the things 'they' say we need to do to keep things running smoothly... reminds me of the endless maintenance on an old beat-up jalopy to keep it going...) I'll have to put things off 'til late August or September...after our family reunion trip to Alabama. (in a couple weeks)

~But thinking on this brought this post to mind from a previous visit to my doctor's office.~

My world today...7-12-07

Today, first thing, I had to go to my doctor's office...just for some maintenance work- you understand! Had to give them a few vials of blood and a couple other samples of stuff!

I didn't mind all that much...except the part about having to wait for my morning coffee! (Also had to resist having a bowl of ice cream after midnight last night because, apparently, blood samples are no good unless you are deprived of food and coffee at least 12 hours prior to the blood-letting!) ;) But I'll do anything to uphold the rules and, so, keep the old bod going strong for a while longer!

Next will be the real degrading part... (Aug. 1st) when I have to go back so they can ask me to step on the scale (I swear it's rigged) and even measure my height!
Have they never seen a short lady before... or even a slightly chubby one!

Every year when I have to have my height exposed and discussed I am reminded of this song by Randy Newman! ;)

...Just so they don't tell me I have that 'Old Timer's' thingie developing, I'll not
complain!..heeheehe...

Spray cans

...and cooking eggs...

Oh, my goodness! Yer gonna LOL at this...maybe even ROTF!

Yer gonna say,"Poor Junie Rose - she's losing it!"

You might even jump to the conclusion that I'm getting old and senile! :)
(...but you'd be wrong , there!!!! haha!)

OK~ I have to say my day got off to a bit of a slippery start today.
Let me explain!

I was rushed this morning -knowing I had a whole lot of shopping to do- but I needed to eat a little breakfast before leaving. I thought a fried egg on toast would be just the thing!

I get my fry pan out and go through the routine of spraying lightly with cooking spray. I then put a pat of butter, also, in the center of the pan. (I love eggs fried in butter) I break my egg into the pan-and then break the yolk for the way I like my eggs! (cooked well done)

I quickly turn to the opposite side of the room where my toaster is and drop in one slice of bread!

Suddenly I smell this pleasant but unrecognizable scent...not at all like an egg frying in butter!

I check my egg and it looked like a normal egg starting to cook...but...WHAT the heck!!

Then it dawned on me what happened...and I was immediately laughing out loud at the absurdity of the whole thing!!

I had used this to spray into my fry pan! :) The back side was to me...lol- not the side that boldly said, 'Pledge Wax!'

You see- I had used this to clean my counters last night- but neglected to put it away. It was sitting near the stove sooo...
(Could happen to anyone-RIGHT???)

Funny thing was-I believe that egg would have cooked right on in that spray Pledge wax! :) Smelled heavenly, too!

Don't worry, tho, I threw it out and started over in a fresh pan and with this! :)

Seeing the 2 cans together you can see they are of similar size...tho nothing alike in color or design!

....but-this was a new brand of cooking spray for me and I was not that familiar with the look of it....
( more excuses)
Oh, well!

A Big Mess!!

Now if this ain't being silly I sure don't know what is!!!

I just spent the past couple hours trying to fix a big mess with my blogs of my own doing and of which I don't know HOW exactly I messed up- Nor do I know HOW I finally fixed it!!

You see- what happened was like this... I have been getting some blog comments in what I took to be in Chinese ...and, of course, I couldn't read the language. I clicked on 'something' thinking it would convert the text to English so that I could read it! What it did- in fact- was change my template-and everything on my profile to all Chinese!!! (well, I'm assuming it was that language- but how would I know!!!)

Oh man!! Try figuring something out on a page with symbols that mean nothing to you!! What a headache that was!!

I was this close "-" to deleting all 7 of my blogs and getting back to 'Real Life!'

How I was able to get back will remain a mystery to me-forevermore!! I could not retrace my steps if my life depended on it!!

From now on, if I get comments in a language I can't read, I will just have to delete them (I do know how to do that!!) and never again make an attempt to convert to English!

Gnome Lady

While strolling through my rose garden yesterday I got a glimpse of this Gnome Lady .
She was in my gazing ball and she had a camera!

Last night we had a good, long, downpour of rain! I was happy because I knew it would be good for my garden!

Early this morning I went out to take a look at things! Yes! Everything looked bright and clean- if a bit soggy. I see also, there's a very real need for me and my clippers to team up! ( Hopefully, later today!)
Here are some pictures of my water drenched roses! You can see the clipping I need to do!

I also got a glimpse of the little Gnome Lady! You may remember her from my earlier encounter with her!
She seems to like spending time inside the gazing balls because that's where I saw her the previous time, too! Also, she seems to appreciate my roses . Both times she had a camera, taking pictures!

One might mistake her for a Fairy...except she has no wings; so I must assume she's a Gnome Lady!

Oh! I DO hope it's not the custom for little fairy ladies to be 'De-winged' for bad behavior- or some such thing! Not knowing a lot about these things I can't be sure! ...I would hate to think that my little lady in the garden is not upright and respectable...whether she be Gnome or Fairy girl!

What do you think?

(I hope she IS just a Gnome lady and never had wings in the first place- to be clipped!)

I DO know...she LOVES roses...so she has to be OK in my book!

Shh... Just between you and me... I think she has put on a few pounds since I first saw her in my garden! I would not want her to overhear this, though, so ...shh!!

Today I took a walk into a part of the yard that is very much neglected- since we have been concentrating more on the back yard nearest the house. There's much needing attention in this part of the yard - but it will probably go undone- except for the occasional mowing of the grass (weeds) there! Still- there are things of interest to be found there. For one- my red Passion Flower vine is planted there. I hope to have blooms on it soon! It's a very unique flower!
And I found -these!

No! I didn't see any Faeries, Trolls, Elves, or Gnomes... but that does not mean they were not there!

It seemed the perfect place for such creatures, to me!

Plenty of hiding places here among these flowers, too!

I just had the feeling that little folk were watching me!

Today I walked down our new stepping stone path and just as I was passing the herb garden I spied this new little fairy girl!

What a surprise - and I swear she looks just like one I had glimpsed in K-Mart...not more than an hour earlier!

Could it be she stowed away with our purchases in the pharmacy? Is my little herb garden becoming famous, or what! I DO wonder how the news of this special little spot reached this particular little fairy girl!

She had picked a place right in front of the lemon Balm, if I'm not mistaken!

I overheard the 2 fairies introducing themselves to each other...The newcomer is Silva and the older girl (which I had not known before) is Sari!

Jerome (the gnome) seems a bit standoffish with the new fairy girl, but that may change!

Is The General starting to wonder how he will keep control of his kingdom with all of these new little creatures moving in?

Today as we walked out to go to the truck we spied a really spectacular sight in the front yard, on each side of the driveway! There were at least 30 of these mushrooms...I know nothing about them-( names-etc) except that they pop up just any where. They always make me think of fairies and gnomes and all those types of little creatures!

:) ( Several blog girls have had close encounters with some of these little folk this summer...myself included!)

...SOOOO- naturally, as I took some pictures I was ever watchful...hoping I might see a Fairy or a Gnome or an elf...Or even a bad old Troll! But - at mid-day they were not about!

After we returned home I again had a look at the mushroom patch!

To my great surprise...look who I saw lurking there!

Checking out the rose garden dismayed me! The weeds have taken over, as is not uncommon this time of year! Seems the weeds always get a head start on the flowers...and it becomes a major task to prepare the beds for pretty stuff!

...You see-here in North Florida our roses are mostly dormant during our coldest periods-not blooming but still growing long and straggly . The scrawny ones sometimes die- not from the cold but from my neglect, I guess! (I just lose interest when there's no blooms and forget to water and prune!)

Oh!
I spied the 'Gnome Lady' again, as I have the past 2 seasons. She was, as usual, in one of my gazing balls...spying on my garden and taking pictures with her camera! I truly hope she doesn't have plans to turn me in to the Garden Society for neglect of my roses! She may even go so far as to try to prevent me from using 'ROSE' as part of my screen name! All I know for sure is that she did not look happy - viewing the condition of my rose garden! :(

I felt like telling this nosy little creature to mind her own business...and that her time might be better spent by getting herself in shape with our local Weight Watcher chapter...and let ME worry about getting my roses in shape!
( She does, indeed, seem to be getting chubbier each year-and looks to be in danger of getting stuck in the neck of that gazing ball! )
However, I resisted such a drastic approach, as, in fact, she may be an official garden patrol and can cause me untold grief...

I wouldn't want to be deprived of the use of 'Rose' as part of my name. And be stuck with something like Junie Weed, or Junie of the Jungle!
Who knows what power this little lady in my gazing ball wields?

OK~ Today was an eye opener for me and I can kill 2 birds with one stone. ( so to speak)
I can take up this garden project of getting my roses in shape- thus- keeping the little Gnome lady off my case and at the same time I can combat my tendency to frequent spells of 'The Blues!' I will be too tired to think of anything else!

I HOPE she will notice my efforts!

I will report my progress, here on the blog!

( I wonder if she's into blog reading...or does she just spy on over grown gardens...that nosy...chubby little so and so...... )

My sweet old cat, Tiger, enjoyed the sunny day! Here he is, posed relaxing in the sun ...with a weed masquerading as a garden flower! (Soon to be replaced with REAL garden flowers!)

I don't think the Gnome Lady found anything to complain about with the Azaleas... How could she! :)

I DID manage to get in a little gardening today. I trimmed a few rose bushes and worked in the herb garden...cleaning out and cutting back!
As I worked I noticed this really bad smell and it seemed worse as I pulled weeds and then brought up my gloved fist full of weeds to put in the can!
It smelled like....well.... like dog pee - something I know a little about , having had a life long association with dogs! (and you must forgive me the use of that word - not Ginga like at all - but it's the least offensive one I could come up with!)
Now- in my desire and haste to get into the gardening (well past due) I failed to pay much notice to the gloves I picked up to use from the back porch, as I started out! ...I worked for quite awhile with this overpowering smell, seemingly getting stronger, then at times dissipating a little as I worked. Finally, bending over to get a better grip on a stubborn weed, my head bent lower than in previous tries, my nose closer to my gloved hands...it dawned on me where this smell was coming from!

It was the gloves!

And of course, I had not been wrong in my identification of this smell!
( How could I be wrong with all these years of experience?)
In a flash I knew exactly what must have happened with these garden gloves!
My little ancient dog, 'Nighty' sleeps on the back porch... She's over 18 years old- Poor little old lady is almost totally blind and deaf...and just in a bad way - in ALL ways! Often - make that always - before I take her out in the mornings, she has messed up the porch floor. A daily, early morning, job is scrubbing and hosing out the porch!

I knew from the smell of those garden gloves they had been, at some point, dropped on the floor and been in contact with the dog's - wet mess! From the smell - they must have been saturated...and then had been left absorbing this 'aroma' all winter! YUCK!!
I took the gloves off and sniffed my hand!

Oh, my!!
...OK- so my gardening was cut short but I HAD made a little bit of progress in the Herb/Fairy garden! This little Fairy girl looked pleased with my efforts.

I hope that bossy little Gnome Lady took notice of all my work! She probably had a good laugh about my smelly garden gloves!

For all I know she might have arranged this whole thing - just to be spiteful!! I don't trust her at all - always hiding out in my gazing balls with that camera of hers! I have seen her a few times but she has never been at all friendly...

After our walk (today)we spent several hours working in the garden.

Charles got mulch for one smallish area-and we fixed that up with some of the new rose bushes we've bought recently!

Oh! And it's a good home for that 'Gator' I got for Charles! Look! I think he's heading for the fish pond!

I took on the job of cutting back all the roses that were worth saving...and pulling up the ones that were a lost cause! Sadly, I lost a lot from neglect the past few months!
(And-No wonder that little garden patrol 'Gnome Lady ' has been upset with me!!)

Well, I didn't see her around today...but I sort of avoided the gazing balls, lest she be lurking there with her camera again...recording my ineptness in the garden!

Oh!! I hope the 'Gator stepping stones' meet with her approval!
(Does that sound sarcastic?......Well, but it IS my rose garden, after all, and the Gnome Lady has become very judgmental of my gardening!)

Anyone ( (Even that Gnomie Chick) would have to say that I put in good day's work in the garden today. I managed to do all the clipping -Plus- I got all the roses fed! Soon it will be looking good out there!

I have no doubts of her being there among my tangled garden. Just last night I was out very late, with my camera - moon gazing- and got a glimpse of those pink wings. In a flash she was hidden from my view and all I was able to get for evidence was this little part of her wings on one side! However~ this picture speaks for itself; don't you agree? She's there!

I DO wonder what sort of trouble, 'Tangle Saturnglow' is likely to cause me!

I'll not worry before it's time, though!

Life at Junie's Place- May 10, '06

FUNNY!!

Some days more than others...some days you just have to 'Laugh Out Loud' at the absurdity of it all!
THIS DAY- or one little part of my day - was like that!

A few weeks ago, some of you may remember, I was having varmint trouble in my laundry room, with what I thought were mice.
What I caught in my mousetraps, though, was a lizard! I also had a couple of his buddies drown in my washing machine!

Very Yucky work - recovering little dead lizard bodies...

Today, as I was taking a wet load of towels out and putting them into the dryer, I was remembering this happening of a few weeks back. I was actually laughing, remembering the weirdness of the whole thing- from this safe distance; cushioned now by the time that has passed.

I pulled out the very last towel and there underneath it was...yep...another little dead and water bloated lizard! The whole thing seemed staged - as it was only after removing the very last piece of laundry that the lizard was revealed to me!

Once again I had to summon my gumption and recover the dead lizard body from my washer!

But - there IS always a bright side...well, maybe not for the lizard but for me! ☺
What if I had not found him before running him through the dryer too!! A stiff, toasted little body might have been worse-PLUS-more work in re-doing the laundry- both washing and drying!

Lol! You HAVE to look for the bright side of things! (It’s always there!)

Have included a picture for you!
Notice the missing tail? Yikes! Am wondering now if it somehow became detached during the fatal accident he had...It’s probably lodged somewhere in my washing machine...only to surface with my next load of clothes!

Another Day - Another Lizard!

Another Day in the tropics...another drowned lizard in my washing machine!

I will spare you the sight of this little dead thing-just a tiny baby, it was!

Very sad and I didn't have the heart to take a picture of the pitiful little thing!

Sooo...had to do the load of laundry over...as among the items washed were dish and bath towels!
LOL- Had it been Charlie's work clothes I might have been tempted to just dry them and keep my silence!

(Would I do that?? ;) )

Tomorrow I plan to take drastic measures to rid myself of these little varmints who keep invading my space!
I'll bomb the whole area! Don’ worry- just an insect bomb! :)

Sorry - but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

The mousetraps that I used before should have told them I meant business!!

Yucky!!

This happened again!
;(

Some of you may remember my troubles of last year with the little lizards that get into my laundry room and ...sometimes... into my washing machine!
Last year on a few occasions I found drowned lizards in my wash. Not a fun thing to have happen-making it necessary to do the wash over! AND - disposing of the little dead body is not something I like doing either!

This is the first dead lizard encounter I have had in over a year...but now it's happened again!

THIS time I didn't find the little body until it had gone through the washer AND the clothes dryer...and after I had unloaded the whole machine...right down to the last few wash cloths!
( There he was , entangled in one of those good smell downy sheets!)

What a yucky sight that was...lol- but I had my wits about me enough to get my camera and record the sad event! (just for you- my blog buddies!)

...Of Lizards and Roses and Missing Mice

NOT one of my better days!!

This all started several nights ago when I went to put a load of laundry in. I got a glimpse of a small, brownish, thing as it scurried quickly out of sight under the washer! Being a country girl, and, indeed, just a girl with many years of experience-period, (country or otherwise!) I quickly determined it had to be a mouse!

As Charlie is fond of saying, "This ain't my first big job!!"

With that in mind I dug out my trusty little mouse traps! (Yes, I HAVE needed them before) I set them up with bits of cheese and carefully managed to push 2 of them to the side and toward the back of the machine! They were out of harm's way of the folks and dogs in the house, with a clothes basket guarding the front!

Every day I would check those traps but they remained undisturbed. I convinced myself the little mouse had just wandered in and most likely had wandered out again; had 'left the building!' LOL- I'm easily persuaded to look on the brighter side, whenever possible!

Today I happened to glance toward the traps and saw they had both been sprung! They were both upside down! I saw no fur...but something had gone for that cheese!

....meanwhile-back tracking a few days...

I discovered I had another kind of critter invasion in my laundry room-the little lizards that are just EVERYWHERE around here! Dozens are spotted everyday around the place...the garden the porch the driveway-garage-and now, my laundry room!
I have never had a fear or dislike of the little lizards so I paid little attention to them. Just transported them outdoors when I could and ignored them when I couldn't catch them!
However-twice in the past few days I've had to fish drowned, water filled, dead little lizard bodies out of my finished loads of laundry! Not fun!... Plus-I had to do the laundry over!!!

I have to assume they got there accidentally! Can't imagine a suicidial lizard choosing such a way to go! ...Jumping into a tub of scalding hot water and detergent and bleach...among dirty socks and underwear... not to mention the AGITATION!!
~~A Mystery!

...SOOO- back to today-
I got my broom and swept out the 2 traps...and this is what I found! The 2 traps had sprung-doing the job as you see it!! I'm sorry! :(

Still...I wonder about the mouse too- and I suppose I will have to reset some traps!
You do what you have to do!

After this ordeal I walked around the back yard...looked at my roses and spied several lizards!
This one was shy and wouldn't let me get a close-up of him!
Maybe word has spread already that I set a MEAN trap!
HOPE SO!

Hair!

About frogs...

I saw a dead Bull Frog in my pond! I wonder how/why he died? :( Yesterday he was at the bottom of the pond, just stretched out on his back with his long legs and arms extended...today he has floated to the top.

(I will spare you a pic of that one!!)

I asked C. to remove it yesterday but he hasn't yet complied! Guess I'll have to fish the little dead body out myself!

Oh, well~ I can do that!
